Running Bear’s father, Chief Bear Claw moved Mahala and her children into the Mandan village nested along the wide Mississippian and Taleaha marries into their tribe. Mahala becomes the tribe’s healer and White Buffalo their “Shaman” the shirt wearer.
During the years that pass, foreseen deaths and war came as life continues, while on the other side of the world in England, a ten year old boy, George Bledsoe grieves over the untimely death of his beloved parents. Sent for by his father’s brother, The Earl of Bledsoe, he comes to live with his uncle in Ireland. Young George is educated and grows into a man and falls in love with a beautiful red headed, green eyed Irish girl and marries her. His uncle’s priest attended the birthing of their first child and during difficulty, he refused to allow the doctor to help her and she dies giving birth. After this heart wrenching experience George argues and threatens his uncle, “You shall never see me again.” He takes his newborn, Sarah leaves his uncles fine manor and boarded a ship bound for the new colonies of the Americas.
